UCC dining hall
Third year project:
Motion and transparency is effectively a very influential part of this design – To be guided by the curved transparent glass, instigates a sense of fluidity and openness to an individual's experience.
This design is very heavily influenced by the existing structure which is the cork distillery bottling plant, but with a unique twist of the concept of Alvar Allto. The fluidity and gentle curves from alto's vase creates a capturing flow that I wanted to incorporate into this design, along with alto's use of timber panels.
The two materials create a unique experience in this space and captures the eye and allows for a beautiful experience. When sunlight's hits and shines through beautiful lights arise from the glass, exposes the detail on the rural oak and creates a pathway for the eye.
